Surah Hajjar is the fifteenth surah and one of the Meccan surahs of the Qur'an, which is located in the 14th chapter. The reason for naming this surah as Hajr is to refer to the story of Hazrat Saleh's people, that is, Thamud's people in verses 80 to 84, which were called Companions of Hajr because of their presence in a land with the same name. Surah Hajar talks about the origin of the universe and the signs of resurrection, faith in God, the importance and greatness of the Qur'an and the punishment of evildoers. In this surah, the story of the creation of Adam (pbuh), the prostration of angels to him except Iblis, the story of the presence of angels near Abraham and their good news to him, the torment of Lot's people and the story of Thamud's people are mentioned. The ninth verse is one of the famous verses of Surah Hajar, in which God emphasizes the revelation of remembrance (Qur'an) and guarding it. Many commentators have considered this verse as a proof that the Qur'an is not distorted. It is stated in the virtue of reciting Surah Hajar, God rewards its reciter ten times the number of emigrants and Ansar.
