Surah Qalam or Nun wa Al-Qalam is the sixty-eighth surah and one of the Meccan surahs of the Qur'an, which is placed in chapter 29. This surah is called the pen because God swore by the pen in its first verse. The content of Surah Qalam is the consolation of the Prophet (PBUH) against the slanders of the polytheists and the call to patience and his forbidding to follow the polytheists and the reminder of the punishment of the polytheists on the Day of Resurrection. Among the famous verses of this sura are the verse "Wa an Yakad" and the verse of the Great Character, which introduce the Prophet (PBUH) as having high morals.
